Pick: Besiktas Result: Pending Stake: 10/10 Odds: 2.15

It is true Besiktas play sloppy recently and have personnel problems, but I expect a win today, because of teh class and quality difference between the two teams. CSKA is simply too far away from Besiktas's potential and quality. The hosts will have some players problems. 3 important defenders wont play because of licenses and bans.

I wonder if it is allowed, but Paksi will play their second match for the last... two days! It is a bit starnge that they played yesterday a league match and play a cup match today. I do not believ they are sueprhumans and they will definitely have to make a mistake today. Their matches were succesful ones, but with very short pauses:
30.11.2010
D1
Paksi FC
3-2
Ferencvaros TC

23.11.2010
LC
Vasas SC
1-4
Paksi FC

20.11.2010
D1
Paksi FC
1-1
MTK Budapest
Although they are in awful form MTK are good rival and definitely boliterated Paksi in teh past...

Despite the fact they are lower league side, Novara seem to be very consistent team making very few mistakes in the defence. Chievo will be more focused on their Serie A performence, but they are likely to simly give something to Novara at home. Neither sides have lost recently so I expect tactics game, waiting for mistakes, defensive aqpproach and a stalemate...

The guests perform better recently, but their weakness remains the wins on the road and they remain at the lower part of the table. Lens are better class, but they lack good away performance. Brestois ahrdly lose at home, but seem to be inconsistent.
A stalemate would satisfy both sides and me as well...

Six wins in a row! Sheffield side seems to be unstoppable machine in all tournaments. However, this streak must end at some point. This less essential for them trophy would be best for resting the palyers. Sheffield Wensday keep playing at FA trophy and aim at teh top of teh league so I guess they will leave this tournament today so that they can focus on the others. In addition the hosts have proven that they can beat Sheffield.

Pick: Tokyo (+0) Result: 0:1 Stake: 9/10 Odds: 2.25

Nagoya have done their job last round and got their title awarded. They will be far from focused (more like hangover) in this match, that is a matter of life and death for FC Tokyo. Tokyo have performed well in the past vs. Nagoya, but this season have been a disaster. This and the next 3 matches will decide if they remain in the elite or relegate. The home side haven't lost here since June, but they will play for nothing this time (they are celebrating their title) while Tokyo must win no matter what...

No team news available, however I will explain the logic. This tournament's rules suggest that even one of the teams has away goal advantage in case of two draws (0:0, 1:1), it will still be decided who continues to the next round by penalties. The guests are lower league team in bad shape, but they will do anything the can to keep the draw. This is the only cup gaem today, so I pretty much bet that there will be surprise or 'surprise' ;) The odds are suspiciously overpriced for home win. Try teh draw at lower stakes...

Although Sporting has many talanted players, I think that they will fail to win today, because of their recent bad form. They will attempt to push forward, but I believe Firentina will punish them with swift counterattacs. The Italian side has a great attacking couple available - Giraldino and Adrian Mutu. On the contrary, Portuguese geusts will have many injured and suspended key players like Simon Vukčević
Key facts • Fiorentina will be looking to build on their 2-2 first-leg draw, when Alberto Gilardino's 79th-minute goal swung the balance of the tie their way. Fiorentina took a sixth-minute lead through Juan Manuel Vargas before Simon Vukčević (58) and Miguel Veloso (66) responded for Sporting. Following Vukčević's dismissal, however, the Italian team drew level through Gilardino.
• Sporting will be hoping to make it third time lucky after losing to Italian sides in UEFA Champions League qualifiers twice previously – going out to FC Internazionale Milano in 2002/03 and Udinese Calcio in 2005/06, on both occasions in the third qualifying round.
• Sporting have won two and lost seven of their previous nine two-legged contests against opposition from Serie A. Moreover, their eleven previous visits to Italy have yielded two draws and nine defeats. Fiorentina have had mixed fortunes in two-legged ties against Portuguese opposition, recording one victory and two defeats.
• Fiorentina have twice appeared in the UEFA Champions League group stage, earning their place through qualifying on both occasions. They overcame SK Slavia Praha last season and RTS Widzew Łódź in 1999/2000. Sporting are bidding for a fourth consecutive appearance in the group stage – and fifth overall. Their only previous victory in the qualifying phase came against Beitar Jerusalem FC in 1997/98.
Team news • Fiorentina Out: José Ignacio Castillo (meniscus) Doubtful: Cristiano Zanetti (ankle) Suspended: none Misses next match if booked: Dario Dainelli, Alessandro Gamberini, Cristiano Zanetti
• Sporting Out: Felipe Caicedo (knee), Marat Izmailov (tendinitis), Hélder Postiga (thigh) Suspended: Simon Vukčević
Misses next match if booked: Miguel Veloso
